Do you have a few bulges of stubborn fat that you would like to get rid of? CoolSculpting can improve your body shape. CoolSculpting is an innovative procedure that uses freezing temperatures to reduce excess fat. But patients considering the procedure often ask – Is CoolSculpting painful?
CoolSculpting Fat Reduction
CoolSculpting is a non-surgical fat reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling to remove isolated pockets of unwanted fat. The freezing temperatures cause the fat cells to crystallize, but does not affect surrounding tissues. The frozen cells die soon after treatment but it often takes 2-4 months for them to be flushed from the body.
Is CoolSculpting Painful?
CoolSculpting may be uncomfortable for patients but it is not painful. Patients will feel intense cold at the start of treatment but the targeted area goes numb after a few minutes. During treatment patients may also feel tingling, numbness, pinching, stinging, and pulling sensations as the fat cells are frozen.
After CoolSculpting the treated area is massaged for a few minutes to enhance results. Many patients find the post-treatment massage very uncomfortable, but not painful.
There is no downtime after CoolSculpting but patients may experience side-effects such as mild swelling, numbness, and bruising, which can last for several days. Patients may also be sore for about one week after treatment.
Am I A Good Candidate For CoolSculpting?
If you are within 20-30 lbs. of your ideal weight and have small to moderate areas of excess fat that you haven’t been able to shed with diet and exercise, you may be a good candidate for CoolSculpting. Candidates should also have realistic expectations about the procedure.
