Would you like to rejuvenate your skin with microneedling therapy? Microneedling is a well-known skin rejuvenation treatment that can improve a range of skin conditions. It is frequently combined with PRP to boost the radiance and youthful appearance of the skin. But what exactly is microneedling with PRP.
What is microneedling with PRP?
Microneedling with PRP is a minimally invasive treatment that involves two procedures, microneedling and platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy, which are done successively.
Microneedling also known as collagen induction therapy is performed first. It is a procedure in which a small handheld automated device fitted with tiny needles is moved across the skin, to create micro injuries. These micro-channels activate the skin’s repair process, and results in the production of new collagen.
PRP therapy is the second procedure and involves the use of platelets derived from the patient’s blood. A small amount of blood is taken from the patient’s arm and is then placed in a centrifuge and spun to separate the PRP. The PRP is applied through the micro-channels created by microneedling, thereby increasing the regenerative effect of the growth factors contained in the platelets. PRP therapy also promotes collagen remodeling.
Combining PRP with microneedling enhances cosmetic outcomes, and can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns. It improves the quality of the skin, and reduces the appearance of scars, wrinkles, large pores, and hyperpigmentation (learn more).
There is no downtime after microneedling with PRP, but patients will experience some discomfort for 1-2 days.
