Are you searching for a way to revive your dull, tired-looking skin? Skin revitalization treatments can help you unlock beautiful, brighter skin, as they enhance skin tone and texture, and reduce signs of aging. But does skin revitalizing hurt?
Skin revitalization procedures are designed to restore the health and appearance of the skin, and address signs of aging. There are several skin revitalization options available including microdermabrasion.
Microdermabrasion for skin revitalization
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive skin resurfacing treatment in which a small hand held device or wand is used to gently exfoliate the outer layer of damaged skin cells. Sloughing away dead skin cells and impurities improves the complexion, and leaves the skin clearer and brighter. Microdermabrasion also initiates cell turnover, resulting in healthy, youthful-looking skin.
Microdermabrasion can treat skin concerns such as fine lines, age spots, wrinkles, acne scars, large pores, dullness, and rough texture.
A single microdermabrasion treatment takes 30-60 minutes. The number of treatments needed often varies, depending on the patient’s skin concerns and aesthetic goals (learn more).
Does microdermabrasion hurt?
Microdermabrasion should not hurt. It is a completely non-invasive procedure that does not require any anesthesia or numbing agent, and is generally well-tolerated. Patients are normally quite comfortable during microdermabrasion treatment, and don’t experience any pain. Some patients have likened the microdermabrasion experience to having sandpaper passed across the skin.
The skin may feel tight for a few hours after microdermabrasion, and there may also be some redness which should resolve within a few days.
